Infertility Overview

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive children or young after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Approximately 1 in 6 couples trying to conceive experience infertility.

Infertility can cause significant distress, stigma, and financial hardship, affecting peoples mental and psychosocial well-being. Solutions for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility such as, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), remain severely underfunded and inaccessible to many due to high costs and limited availability.
